Special Steam Lunar New Year Sale 2019 Promotion

Lunar Sale begins today at 10:00 PST and will end on February 11th, 2019.

Valve sent out the following email to Steam partners today, outlining some event details:

Dear Steam Partner,

We want to celebrate the new year by giving back to the Steam community. For this year’s Lunar New Year sale we’re trying something different. You’ll see we’ve created a special, limited-time promotion to encourage users to explore the sale and check out even more of the awesome deals available on Steam.

There are two key features of the sale:

• First, during the Lunar New Year Sale, qualifying purchases over $30 (in a single cart) will receive an automatic additional discount of $5 (or equivalent currency). Valve is funding 100% of this discount. As a partner, you will get your normal revenue share as if there had not been a $5 discount, and there is no change to the reporting for these purchases.

• This automatic discount is limited to one cart purchase per account. Gifts and in-game purchases do not qualify.

• Steam users also earn points when they buy games during the Lunar New Year sale. They can redeem those points for special $5 instant discount coupons (or equivalent currency), fancy profiles, badges, and more. Once again, these discount coupons are funded entirely by Valve — you will get your normal revenue share as if there had not been a $5 discount, and there is no change to reporting.

STEAM LUNAR NEW YEAR SALE BEGINS NOW, AWARDS PRESENTATION HAPPENING FRIDAY

February 4, 2019 - Steam's Lunar New Year Sale has begun, offering big savings on thousands of titles in celebration of the start of the Year of the Pig on the lunar calendar. The sale will run from February 4th until February 11th, 2019.

During this year's Lunar New Year Sale, players will receive a one-time automatic $5 (or equivalent currency) discount on qualifying purchases over $30 (limited to one cart purchase per account). For details, see this page: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/lunar2019/

Buying games during the sale will also earn players tokens that may be redeemed at the Rewards Booth (https://store.steampowered.com/lny2019/rewards) for $5 instant discount coupons, fancy profile pages, badges and more.

Meanwhile the results are in, and on February 8th at 10am Pacific the winners of the Steam Awards will be announced via broadcast at https://Steam.tv/SteamAwards. Throughout the 2018 Steam Winter Sale, millions of Steam users cast their votes in the third-annual Steam Awards. For the first time, the winners will be first revealed and heard from via a Steam broadcast.
